Deforestation causing Amazon rainforest to emit more carbon dioxide than absorb it, research shows

There is new alarm over the Amazon rainforest, as new research suggests it is now emitting more carbon dioxide on the environment, rather than absorbing it.

According to the data, deforestation and changing weather patterns are reducing the world largest tropical rainforest's effectiveness to act as a buffer for climate change effects.

As Crystal Goomansingh reports, experts call the findings a "nightmare scenario". And there are calls for governments around the world to put pressure on Amazon nations to stop the dangerous trend.
