Nuno Espirito Santo's Harry Kane Tottenham transfer declaration is good news for Liverpool
Harry Kane is keen to leave Spurs in pursuit of trophies, with a number of clubs believed to be interested in his services

New Tottenham Hotspur boss Nuno Espirito Santo faced the media for the first time on Friday afternoon.

And it should come as no surprise that forward Harry Kane dominated the Portuguese's first media briefing.

Kane is keen to leave the North London side in pursuit of trophies, with a number of clubs believed to be interested in his services.

However, Spurs are likely to demand a fee in excess of £100m if the forward, who turns 28 this month, is to leave this summer, which could be an issue for potential suitors.

Speaking to Gary Neville on The Overlap back in May, Kane publicly admitted he is open to a transfer and will hold talks with Daniel Levy about his future this summer.

He said: "I think so. I think it’s definitely a conversation to be had with the club. Yeah, like you say, I want to be playing in the biggest games. The biggest moments.

"Like, this season I’m there watching the Champions League, watching the English teams in there doing amazing. They are the games that I want to be involved in.

"I want to be in them games. So for sure, it’s a moment in my career where I have to kind of reflect and see where I’m at and have a good, honest conversation with the chairman. I hope that we can have that conversation.

"I’m sure that he’ll want to set out the plan of where he sees it but ultimately it’s going to be down to me and how I feel and what’s going to be the best for me and my career at this moment in time."

Since those comments to the former Manchester United man, there have been reports of a bid from Manchester City for the England international.

But speaking earlier this month, City boss Pep Guardiola claimed his club are being priced out of the market for a new striker this summer.

"At the prices (quoted) we are not going to buy any strikers,” he told Catalan network TV3. “It is impossible, we cannot afford it.

"All clubs are struggling financially, we are not an exception. We have Gabriel (Jesus) and Ferran (Torres) who have been incredible in this position.

"We have young players in the academy and we play many times with a false nine. There is more of a chance we aren't going to buy a striker for next season."

However, many in the game failed to fall for Guardiola’s comments with many suggesting that a deal for the forward could still be done.

But now new Spurs boss Nuno appears determined to keep the England skipper at the club and has admitted he is "looking forward" to working with the 27-year-old.

"Kane is a Tottenham player, our player, period. There’s nothing to add," said the former Wolves manager during his first Spurs press conference.

He then added: "Now is the moment for Harry to recover. When he comes back, we will speak. I’m looking forward to Harry joining the group and us working together”.

A move to Manchester would no doubt hand the Etihad club a huge advantage heading into the new campaign.

This is why Nuno’s latest transfer declaration around the future of his side’s captain will be music to the ears of Reds fans across the globe as their side aims to wrestle back the Premier League title this season.

That's for now from Anfield.
