Robotically Recycling Insulated Glass Units

Robotically Recycling Insulated Glass Units

PushCorp teamed up with ARUP to create an Insulated Glass Unit recycling solution. Contact us today, and let’s talk about developing a robotic solution for your process! https://pushcorp.com/contact-us/

Insulated Glass Units, or IGUs are typically made up of two glass panes sandwiching an aluminum spacer and gasket material. To be able to recycle the glass panes, we needed to remove the spacer and gasket material without damaging the glass panes.

Utilizing a PushCorp spindle and force control device, we first separated the two glass panes with a 3M cutoff wheel (3:54). Next, A ½ Inch end mill removed the aluminum spacer (4:18). To remove the remaining gasket material we used a 3M multi finishing wheel (4:56). Lastly, a 3M Deburr and Finish Wheel was used to refine the scratch pattern (5:10).
