After years of being unable to render the Croatian landscape in paint a breakthrough came around 2017 after studying the late work, and technique, of the British artist, David Hockney. The knowledge I acquired from this study I applied to a sequence of paintings from Bukovlje, exhibited under the title, River, Rocks and Foliage in January 2020. Having recently under taken the task of preserving one of the last remaining 'dew' ponds in Bukovlje I attempt to make a painting worthy of this feature in the village. Here I demonstrate my techniques and try to paint the scene on canvas.
