There's a lot of memorable stuff in 1997's The Fifth Element. There are the costumes, the hair, the wild performances, the twisty-turny plot, the action, the comedic lines. Which makes it all the more notable that one scene seems to stand out as the most memorable of all: the alien Diva Plavalaguna's operatic performance.
It's a truly captivating moment, with a stirring musical performance by a woman in stunning blue makeup, set against an action sequence taking place elsewhere. The song, "Il dolce suono" from the opera "Lucia di Lammermoor," is sung by Inva Mula, but the actress under the makeup is Maïwenn Le Besco.
