There's no doubt that the ABC sitcom "The Middle" was sold on the sitcom pedigree of its two adult stars: Patricia Heaton from "Everybody Loves Raymond" and Neil Flynn from "Scrubs." But soon enough into the show's run, the three kids in the Heck family, played by Charlie McDermott, Eden Sher and Atticus Shaffer, established themselves as sitcom stars in their own right.
McDermott played eldest son Axl, and fans of the show were certainly eager to see how his career would progress after "The Middle" took its final bow in 2018.
