'The Hawks did not do enough to ensure detective Charl Kinnear's safety'

The Hawks did not do enough to ensure detective Charl Kinnear's safety. This is according to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate’s findings as seen by the Daily Maverick. The report reveals that officers were aware that Kinnear's movements were being monitored in the run-up to his assassination. Kinnear was gunned down in front of his house last year. He had been investigating several underworld crimes, as well as an alleged syndicate involving police officers in Gauteng helping suspects get firearm licences.
