Taking You Down One Way or Another | Winching Trees Down with a Tractor Skidding Winch

It's that time of year again. Winter is gone and spring is starting to remind me it's time to get down to tree cutting. If you heat your home with firewood like I do you know that if you don't get started on your firewood when you have the time, you'll quickly run out of it. Early spring is a great time to take care of any trees that need to come down as the ground is still frozen enough to allow machinery to drive over it without rutting it and the snow is gone. I'm using my Wallenstein FX85 and 40hp Kioti tractor today to pull down some trees that blew over almost to the ground in a storm a few months back. I don't really like cutting leaning trees especially when the canopy is hung up on other trees as there can sometimes be unexpected kickback and so I"m using my winch to make this tree cutting safer. Well....atleast that's the idea anyways. With some rigging of pulleys and the power put down to the winch cable, my 40 hp tractor is trying it's best to pull down these two big trees. You'll see the outcome of this effort on today''s episode but one thing is for sure. These trees are coming down one way or another as I need the wood for heat! Glad you're all here for today's adventure....Here we go!
