Performance Diesel Tuning Fundamentals | Lesson 1 of 5 [FREE #LESSON]

With many larger modern diesel engines being 'over-built' from factory, it is not uncommon to easily extract 80-100HP more with only a custom tune. It's no surprise that more and more people want to learn how this is possible, and understand how it is done themselves.

It doesn't matter if you're tuning a Ford Powerstroke, Dodge Cummins, Chevrolet Duramax or something else using HP Tuners, EFI Live, SCT, EZ Lynk or whatever platform is applicable to your application, you're going to enjoy these lessons.

In this first of FIVE diesel tuning lessons we're going to run through some of the advantages a diesel has over a gasoline based engine, with the barrier or knock/detonation/pinging limitations being one major aspect that we do not have to worry about here.

We're also going to look at some of the electronic controls a modern common rail setup has, basic injection timing and pressure principles along with some torque tables without our HP Tuners software.

While tutor Nick Priegnitz us using HP Tuners and a Duramax for this specific lesson, the concepts he covers on the fundamentals of diesel operation are not specific to these platforms and later lessons do use a range of other options to help underline this fact.
