Chinese coal mining firms are increasing production ahead of the peak winter season, which is gradually cooling prices for the energy source.

According to one large coal mining enterprise in Taiyuan City of north China’s Shanxi Province, their entire operation is currently running at full capacity in a bid to ensure supplies.

"We structured our original production plan so that it could be organized to manage a 30,000 tons per month increase," said Wang Yonggang, secretary, Communist Party of China (CPC) Shanxi Coking Coal Energy Group's Guandi Mine Committee.

As more firms increase production, coal prices are being pushed down.

Elsewhere in the province, at a mining company in Datong City, a sales director said they recently dropped the factory price for their 5,500 kilocalorie thermal coal to about 187 U.S. dollars.

"Our company took the lead in reducing the price by 100 yuan (about 16 U.S. dollars) based on the market price. The factory price of 5,500 kilocalorie thermal coal will be lower than 1,200 yuan (around 187.5 U.S. dollars)," said Gu Tianye, sales director of Jinneng Holding Shanxi Coal Industry Co., Ltd.

Industry experts say as the country's coal production picks up, supplies will increase, prices will come down, and demand will ease.

Data from the China National Coal Association shows from October 1 to 13, the average daily output of major coal mining companies in the country stood at 6.93 million tons, a 4.5 percent increase from September.

業內專家表示，隨著該國煤炭產量回升，供應將增加，價格將下降，需求將放緩。

中煤協數據顯示，10月1日至13日，全國主要煤炭企業日均產量693萬噸，比9月增長4.5%。
