A couple of months ago, we told you the story of Kristi Noem's daughter, Kassidy Peters. Now Kristi Noem, as we all know, is the Republican governor of South Dakota. And so the governor Kristi Noem said, all right, Kassidy, why don't you to come into my office. We're going to have a little meeting with the officials here in the state that actually approved these licenses and we're going to get to the bottom of this. And they had the meeting. And wouldn't you know it, after the meeting, the individual who was part of the denial process for Ms. Peters was let go.
And then immediately, Kassidy Peters got her real estate appraisers license. Huh? Imagine that. After your mother, the governor, calls you into her office threatens you, according to reports that we're seeing now, one of them loses her job and the other one says, oh, oh, look, here it is. Here's your license. There you go. Thank you. Well, this week Kassidy Peters, as the investigation continues into potential abuse of power into her mother, announced that she would be surrendering her real estate appraisers license and she announced this in a bitter and angry statement sent to the agency itself. Here's what she said. I am writing, I'm writing you today to express my disappointment and anger that my good name and professional reputation continue to be damaged by questions and misinformation concerning the appraiser certification program. I'm angry and I can acknowledge that this has successfully destroyed my business. I mean, destroyed your business, come on. You've only been doing this for a couple of months. Let's be honest. It's not like you had this big thriving home appraisal business that was just kicking in South Dakota. No, you've literally been on the job for a couple months.
Stop acting like this has just ruined everything that you've worked so hard to build. You didn't even qualify for it at first. You probably still didn't qualify, but, you know, you got it. Maybe it's because of your mother's pressure. The investigation will get to the bottom of that. Right. But man, based on that statement you wrote there, I'd say you have a pretty good chance of being successful in Republican politics in the future, right? I mean, that is absolutely a whiny, Republican response. I mean, we see Donald Trump do stuff like this all the time. We have seen Matt Gaetz make statements like this and Jim Jordan, and you're right there with them holding your own. And you're not even an elected official. So I would say that Kassidy Peters absolutely has a bright future within the Republican party. She's doing a great job playing the victim, even though she's the one and her mother, who are clearly in the wrong in this particular situation. It is what it is. Right. She's giving back the license. She is no longer going to be an appraiser.
